AbacusAI Office Add-in
The Abacus AI Assistant for Microsoft 365 brings Abacus.AI directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. It opens as a task pane inside the Office app and works as an agent on the document you already have open — ask for a deck, a report, or an analysis, and the result lands as native, fully editable Office content (real slides and placeholders, data-backed charts, formulas, and drafts), not pasted text or images.
Unlike the data connectors described elsewhere in this section, the Office Add-in is not a data-ingestion connector — it is Abacus.AI running inside your Microsoft 365 apps.
How it works
- Install once, sign in with your Abacus.AI account — the add-in uses your existing account (or a free new one) and works in Office on the web and the desktop apps.
- Grounded in the open document — the assistant reads the document, workbook, presentation, or email thread you have open, so there is no copy-pasting context back and forth.
- Agentic, step-by-step work — it plans, researches the web with citations when needed, and applies changes through native Office operations. You can watch each action in the task pane and control what it is allowed to do without asking.
- Native, editable output — slides work with Outline View and your theme, Excel gets real formulas and chart objects, Word gets styled structured drafts, Outlook gets triage and drafted replies.

Installation
There are three ways to install, all covered step-by-step on the Get Started page:
- From your Office app — Home tab → Add-ins → search "Abacus". Recommended for individuals and small teams.
- Microsoft 365 admin center — for IT administrators deploying to an organization (everyone, specific groups, or just you). Admin-deployed add-ins can take 24–72 hours to appear.
- Sideload the manifest — upload the XML manifest directly, for testing and evaluation without the store.
